Radio Relief Inc. has been approved by the US IRS as a 501 (c) (3) public charity.
Radio Relief’s mission is to purchase, acquire, program, maintain, and deploy amateur radio equipment for use by amateur operators in the event of a natural disaster, primarily in the rural areas of southern Georgia and northern Florida.
Many times amateur operators are forced to bring their own equipment and reprogram it for work in a disaster zone. Radio Relief seeks to provide standardized, preprogrammed radios (primarily 2m band mobiles in go-boxes) for use in a disaster. This is so licensed amateur radio volunteers, whether they be affiliated with RACES, ARES, Auxcomm, or they are independent operators, can come in with no equipment and be ready to deploy immediately. Our vision is teams deploying with our equipment to served agencies and to predetermined relay sites, setting up in as little as 15 minutes to pass critical traffic and welfare messages in and out of zones where traditional means of communication may be overloaded or disabled.
Radio Relief, while willing to assist whomever, whenever, and wherever the need arises, is not officially associated with RACES, ARES, Auxcomm, etc. and is independently controlled for the benefit of all who have lost communication in a disaster.
